Domiciliary Care

What Is Domiciliary Care?

Domiciliary care — sometimes called home care — is professional care and support delivered to individuals in the comfort of their own home. Rather than moving into a residential setting, people who receive domiciliary care are able to remain in the place they know and love best, surrounded by their own belongings, their own routines and the people who matter most to them.

At Cam Gray Support Services, our domiciliary care is built entirely around the individual. We do not offer a one-size-fits-all service. Every person we support receives a care package that has been thoughtfully designed around their specific needs, preferences, lifestyle and goals — because real care is personal.

Who Is Domiciliary Care For?

Domiciliary care is suitable for a wide range of people across different stages of life and with varying levels of need. You do not need to have a significant health condition to benefit from home care — sometimes a little regular support is all that is needed to help someone live safely, comfortably and with confidence.

Our domiciliary care services support people who are:

  • Older adults who need help with daily tasks such as washing, dressing or meal preparation
  • Individuals living with long-term health conditions including diabetes, COPD or heart disease
  • Adults recovering from surgery, illness or a hospital stay
  • People living with dementia who benefit from familiar surroundings and consistent support
  • Individuals with physical disabilities who require assistance to remain independent at home
  • Adults with learning disabilities who need support with daily living
  • Family carers who need a regular break through respite care

If you are unsure whether domiciliary care is the right option for you or your loved one, our team is always happy to talk things through with no obligation whatsoever.

What Our Domiciliary Care Includes

Our domiciliary care services cover the full spectrum of daily living support. Whether someone needs a short morning visit to help them start their day, or more comprehensive support throughout the day and evening, we are here to provide it.

Personal Care

We provide sensitive, dignified support with all aspects of personal care — including washing and bathing, dressing and grooming, oral hygiene, continence care and skin care. Our carers approach personal care with the utmost professionalism and respect, always ensuring the individual feels comfortable and in control.

Medication Support

Managing medication correctly is crucial to maintaining health and wellbeing. Our trained carers can provide full medication support — from prompting and supervision through to full administration — ensuring medications are taken safely, on time and in the right dosage. All medication activity is carefully recorded and monitored.

Meal Preparation and Nutrition

Good nutrition is fundamental to good health. We support individuals to plan and prepare balanced, enjoyable meals that reflect their personal tastes and any dietary requirements. Where appropriate, we also assist with shopping and can help individuals stay hydrated and nourished throughout the day.

Mobility and Moving

For individuals who require assistance with movement, our carers are fully trained in safe moving and handling techniques. We support people to move around their home safely, transfer from beds to chairs, and use mobility aids correctly — always prioritising dignity and safety.

Household Support

A clean, tidy and well-maintained home environment makes a real difference to a person’s sense of wellbeing. We provide light housekeeping support including laundry, ironing, vacuuming, tidying and general household tasks — helping people to enjoy a comfortable, ordered home without the physical burden of managing it alone.

Companionship and Social Support

Loneliness and social isolation have a profound impact on mental and physical health. Our carers provide genuine companionship — sharing conversation, accompanying individuals on outings, supporting them to attend appointments, and helping them to maintain the social connections that are so important to quality of life.

Healthcare Monitoring

Our carers are trained to observe and report on changes in a person’s health and wellbeing. We carry out regular health monitoring where required, including recording vital signs, monitoring wounds and liaising with GPs, district nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure a joined-up approach to care.

Live-In Care

For individuals who require more intensive or around-the-clock support, we also offer live-in care — where a dedicated care professional lives in the individual’s home to provide continuous, highly personalised care. This can be a particularly valued alternative to residential care for people who wish to remain in their own home.

Our Care Visit Schedule

We understand that flexibility is essential. Life does not follow a rigid timetable, and neither does our care. We work with each individual and their family to agree a visit schedule that fits naturally into their daily routine — and we revisit that schedule regularly to ensure it continues to meet their needs.

We offer care visits ranging from 30-minute support calls through to full-day and overnight care. Our scheduling team works hard to ensure consistency — wherever possible, you will see the same familiar faces rather than a different carer at every visit.

Short Visits

For people who need a little assistance at a specific time of day — a morning call to help with getting up and dressed, or an evening visit to support with getting ready for bed — our shorter visit packages provide targeted, efficient support precisely when it is needed.

Extended and Multiple Daily Visits

Where more comprehensive support is required throughout the day, we can arrange multiple daily visits — morning, midday, afternoon and evening — to ensure consistent care and supervision across all waking hours.

Overnight Care

For individuals who are at risk during the night, or whose family carers need the reassurance of knowing someone is present, we provide overnight care packages — either as a sleeping night or a waking night, depending on the level of support required.

How We Match You With the Right Carer

We believe that the relationship between a person and their carer is one of the most important factors in the quality of care they experience. That is why we take our carer matching process seriously.

When we carry out your initial assessment, we take time to understand not just your care needs but who you are as a person — your interests, your personality, your routines and what kind of carer you would feel most comfortable with. We then match you with a care professional whose skills and character are the right fit.

All of our carers are:

  • Fully DBS checked to the enhanced level before starting work
  • Comprehensively trained in care skills, safeguarding, medication management and moving and handling
  • Inducted thoroughly before their first solo visit
  • Supervised regularly by an experienced senior care coordinator
  • Supported with ongoing professional development and specialist training

Funding Your Domiciliary Care

We understand that navigating the funding landscape for care can feel complex and confusing. Our team is here to help you understand your options clearly, so you can make an informed decision about how to fund the support you need.

Local Authority Funding

If you have been assessed by your local authority as having eligible care needs, you may be entitled to funding support towards the cost of your care. We work with a number of local authorities across the West Midlands and can support you through the process of applying for a care assessment.

NHS Continuing Healthcare

Some individuals with complex or significant health needs may be eligible for NHS Continuing Healthcare — a package of care that is fully funded by the NHS. If you think this may apply to you or your loved one, we can help you understand the eligibility criteria and navigate the assessment process.

Direct Payments and Personal Budgets

If you receive a direct payment or personal budget from your local authority, you can choose to use this to purchase your care from Cam Gray Support Services. We are an approved provider and can guide you through how this works in practice.

Private Funding

Many of our service users fund their care privately. We offer transparent, competitive pricing with no hidden charges — and we always ensure you have a clear picture of costs before any care begins.
